Course Description

Villains, Vixens, and Vodka, Russophone Cinema: This course examines the cinematic traditions of Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Drawing from film paragons of the 20th and 21st centuries, students will learn about the critical reception of these films in their home countries and in the United States, recognize common features for regional cinemas, form opinions about the role of film in these cultures, as well as analyze the understanding of this region in American culture today.
