Course Description
Beginning Ballet is designed as a basic introduction to Western European classical dance. The key concepts of the course include: an appreciation for ballet theory and history, alignment and anatomy for the dancer (from a practical perspective), and an awareness of the performing "style" and aesthetics particular to ballet, all ingredients for critical discussion of ballet in relation to other arts. The course content may be repeated for one credit via T/D-117 if the student is interested in progressing to T/D-234 Intermediate Ballet. ARTSC, Fall semester.
