ART 156 Construct Image: Digital Photography I
Course Description
This course explores the conceptual and practical principles of digital photography, photo history, the elements and principles of design, and an introduction to the camera functions. Students learn through presentation and demonstrations, reading and discussion, project-based assignments that merge form and content, critique and self-reflection. Discussion topics focus on aesthetic and ethical issues of the medium. Adobe Photoshop is used to explore creative and experimental possibilities for editing photographs and constructing images. Introduction to input/output peripherals includes digital cameras, scanners, and ink-jet printers. DSLR or Mirrorless camera with fully manual capability is required or can be borrowed from the department. Additional studio course fee $60.00. ARTSC, Fall Semesters; Spring semesters even years.
