MUS 210 Why Live Performance?

Course Description

Students will prepare their live performance and explore methods of heightening their ability to use musical expression in live performance, including: mental preparation, dealing with stage fright, and cultivating a deeper awareness of one's "inner self". Students will consider how the meaning of live musical performance has changed in the past and continues to change in contemporary practices (such as highly edited recording sessions, streaming, etc...). We expand our perspective beyond Western European classical music, to observe how different performers share themselves with listeners in different ways. Concurrent enrollment in a music lesson/ensemble or permission of the instructor is required. ARTSC, Spring semester
